One of the most acclaimed pianists to emerge in the last decade, Jonathan Biss is highly regarded for his artistry, musical intelligence and deeply felt interpretations, winning international recognition for his orchestral, recital and chamber music performances and for his award-winning recordings.
At the age of 34, Biss has already established himself as one of the pre-eminent interpreters of his generation. His 2013 online Coursera course on Beethoven's piano sonatas with the Curtis Institute reached a record 15,800 participants. In 2012, Onyx Classics began a nine-year, nine-disc Jonathan Biss recording cycle of Beethoven's complete sonatas.
Biss' recital program includes Berg's Sonata, Op. 1, Schoenberg's Sechs Kleine Klavierstucke, Op. 19, Schumann's Waldszenen, Op. 82 and two Beethoven works, the Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 2, No. 1 and the Piano Sonata No. 28 in A Major, Op. 101.
