Da Camera's season continues with a celebration of a modern day trailblazer, 2013 Macarthur Genius grant winning composer/pianist Vijay Iyer, who comes to Houston to perform the world premiere of his Piano Quintet with the Brentano String Quartet. Featured in the recent film A Late Quartet, the Brentano String Quartet has come to the attention of a new audience.

The Brentano returns in a program of masterpieces by Debussy (String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 10) and Beethoven (String Quartet No. 8 in E Minor, Op. 59, No. 2) and the world premiere by Vijay Iyer, with Iyer at the keyboard. A pioneering, genre-bending jazz pianist, Vijay Iyer becomes one of the rare artists who have appeared on both Da Camera's jazz and chamber music series.

Vijay Iyer has been commissioned by such prestigious ensembles as American Composers Orchestra, Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, Brooklyn Rider and International Contemporary Ensemble.
