Da Camera continues the jazz series with Latin jazz pianist Manuel Valera and New Cuban Express. Valera makes his Da Camera debut as a bandleader with his New Cuban Express sextet. Manuel Valera's 2012 CD New Cuban Express was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz recording.
Born and raised in Havana, he has performed with such notable artists as Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Brian Lynch, Dafnis Prieto (with whom he appeared on Da Camera's series), Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Jeff "Tain" Watts. Valera's latest recording is this year's Expectativas.
