Since 2003, Mexico City-based performance collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol has created intensely personal multimedia works of theater exploring the members of the collective's personal and familial histories and identities. In El Rumor del Incendio, the collective mines the complex history of armed movements in Mexico in the second half of the 20th century and places the political actions and stories of their family members in the 1960s and 1970s in context with that history, all the while asking the question: What motivates men and women to take arms, abandoning comfort and the everyday inertia in pursuit of a transformation?
