Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts CounterCurrent Festival: Antena

eventdetail
Antena

Antena is a language justice and language experimentation collaborative founded in 2010 by Jen Hofer and John Pluecker, both of whom are writers, artists, literary translators, bookmakers and activist interpreters. For the festival, Antena will activate a series of events around the launch of a fully bilingual, handmade book on Antena's imprint, Libros Antena/Antena Books, that will be written by the members of La Colmena, a Houston-based domestic workers' collective and will chronicle their lived experiences of migration, labor and organization.

Among the events, co-presented with Blaffer Art Museum, will be a book launch/reading/celebration; bilingual conversation circles; and workshops with artists Ingrid Hernandez and Sandra de la Loza.
