CraftTexas 2010, one of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft's most popular exhibitions, is in its sixth year as a juried event showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. This year, 73 works made from clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood or found/recycled materials were selected from over 460 submissions. Works ranging in style from traditional to cutting-edge contemporary were judged on technical proficiency, creative and inventive use of medium and innovation in style or concept. Conceptual jewelry is the show's highlight.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Friday, September 24, 5:30 - 8 p.m., where three artists will be presented with Award of Merit prizes of $1000 each.
