As large as it is, Houston shares a feature with dozens of small towns across Texas: A courthouse square. Preservation Houston's 90-minute guided walking tour of the Courthouse District features interesting and often amusing stories of Harris County government, tales of the elite 19th-century neighborhood Quality Hill, and looks at some of downtown's oldest buildings.
