Country Playhouse's New Play Reading Series, an annual presentation of plays by Houston-area authors, shares the fun of hearing brand-new works and offer guests the opportunity to meet the playwright. These free performances run for four Sundays with a different author featured each Sunday night. No reservations are necessary.

March 10 - Jeffrey Strausser looks at a political candidate who takes on the financial industry in his twisting tale In God We Trust.

March 17 - Jere Pfister features evolving 21st century traditions and arrangements in her pair of plays Changing Family Values.

March 24 - John Meiners Jr. takes guests on an unexpected journey back in time when a a woman wakes up at the historic plantation guest house and finds herself immersed in problems of 150 years earlier in his play Cypress Mist.

April 7 - Lisa Omlie's The Baby follows a man running for governor who is up against the pro-life/abortion controversy even in his own family.
