Conversation with the artists: David McGee and Seth Alverson

eventdetail

Hello Project Gallery presents David McGee in conversation with Seth Alverson for a lively discussion about art, life and everything in between.

McGee is a Houston-based painter, born in Los Angeles in 1962. He received his bacherlor of art from Prairie View A&M University in 1985. His work has been the focus of solo exhibitions at The Menil Collection (2010), Texas Gallery (2005, 1995, 1994), DiverseWorks (2004), Rhode Island School of Design Museum (2001), Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (1998) and Project Row Houses (1994).

Seth Alverson, 09/05/14, the first solo exhibition of Houston-based artist Seth Alverson since 2011, is an exhibition of luminously alluring and deftly grotesque oil paintings, conceptually driven by feelings of self-containment and the cyclic nature of the human condition. This exhibition poses a challenging narrative of perspective: Is the viewer looking in at the world or out at it?

This event will be followed by a closing reception for the exhibition, from 4-6 p.m.
