Conversation and book signing: Luc Tuymans and Bret Easton Ellis

Menil Collection

The Menil Collection will present a conversation between Belgian artist Luc Tuymans and American writer Bret Easton Ellis. Tuymans is one of today's most influential painters. Nice. Luc Tuymans, an exhibition of his portraits, is at the Menil Collection for the rest of the year.

Bret Easton Ellis, the author of seven books, is best known for his novels Less Than Zero (1985) and American Psycho (1991).

Ellis and Tuymans, who share distinctively dark and dispassionate world views, will talk about the challenges for writers and painters whose work deals with individuals and society at the beginning of the 21st century. Following the discussion, books by Bret Easton Ellis and Luc Tuymans will be available for purchase and signing. Those attending the event are invited to bring one of Ellis' books to the museum for him to sign.
