CONTEXT presents "Intimate Encounters: The Romantic Flute"

eventdetail

Hungarian period-instrument star Ildikó Kertész brings her early-19th century flute for a program of rare Romantic gems for flute and piano. Kertész performs and records with Europe's finest early-music groups, including the English Baroque Soloists, La Stagione, Concerto Köln, Capella Coloniensis and the Orfeo Orchestra of Budapest, which she co-founded.

Playing on a six-key wooden flute and a piano built in 1810, Kertész and pianist Brian Connelly will perform music by Viennese masters of the early Romantic era. The program included Franz Schubert's only piece for flute, a monumental set of variations on one of his own songs.
