French composers of the Baroque Era developed a distinctive and influential musical style of elegance, brilliance and poetic atmosphere. Context presents the Houston recital debut of internationally renowned harpsichordist Paolo Bordignon in a solo program of masterpieces of the French Baroque by Couperin, Rameau and Du Phly.

The program will include the monumental Overture in the French Style by J. S. Bach, who wasn't French, but who mastered and further developed the idioms of French composers.

Bordignon is harpsichordist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, The Knights, English Chamber Orchestra, Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and many other ensembles. He has collaborated with famed soloists such as Itzhak Perlman, Bobby McFerrin and Midori. He was recently appointed director of music and organist at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston.

Bordignon will perform on two different harpsichords for this program.
