CONTEXT presents "The First Romantics"

eventdetail

At the beginning of the 19th century, these path-breaking (and short-lived) young composers invented music of extraordinary freedom, emotional display and elegant virtuosity. This program includes high-spirited works for piano and strings by Jan Vorisek and Carl Maria von Weber, along with the visionary F Minor Quartet — a masterpiece cherished by the later Romantics — of Louis Ferdinand, Prince of Prussia.

The concert features violinist Eric Halen, violist Joan DerHovsepian and cellist Jean-Michel Fonteneau performing on original instruments.
