CONTEXT presents "Faure"

eventdetail

CONTEXT presents two major works by French master Gabriel Faure. The rarely-heard Second Piano Quartet is startling in its invention and drama and ravishing in melodic and harmonic beauty. The gorgeous song-cycle La Bonne Chanson is performed in Faure's lush version for voice with chamber ensemble.

Led by violinist Stephanie Chase, the program features the CONTEXT debuts of violinist Aloysia Friedmann and the great American baritone William Sharp. Other performing artists include Max Mandel, viola; Michael Kannen, cello; and Brian Connelly, piano, performing on a 1890 Bluthner piano.
