Clara Schumann's heartbreaking trio — considered to be her greatest composition — was written six years after her marriage, when she was 26 and had four children. Perhaps inspired by Clara, Robert wrote his sunny Second Trio one year later, during a period of tremendous artistic growth and energy.
Performed on an original Bösendorfer piano from the era and string instruments outfitted with gut-strings, this CONTEXT concert features the debut of American violinist Lucy Chapman, alongside cellist Michael Kannen and pianist Brian Connelly.
