Concert: From the Budapest Opera House to the Gates of Auschwitz

eventdetail

Al Marks, a Holocaust survivor who was able to turn his childhood dream of becoming a musician into reality following that grim period in history, curates an evening of opera melodies and inspirational stories featuring Hungarian soprano Dalma Boronkai Rodriguez and Mexican tenor Antonio Rodriguez. Interspersed with popular operatic arias, survivor Al Marks will tell the story of opera singer Ferenc Fellner, who survived the same four camps as Marks.

Marks' daughter, Karen Marks Aarons, will accompany on the piano. A pre-concert wine reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the museum's foyer, with the performance beginning at 7 p.m.

The concert is partially underwritten by Inette and Joshua Brown in honor of Anna Steinberger's 85th birthday.
