The Community Artists' Collective will honor five Houston artists at a luncheon at the Junior League of Houston. HJ Bott, Ann Johnson, Joseph Dixon, Tim Walker and Reagan Flowers were selected for their contributions to education and to the community and for their roles in creating the synthesis between the arts and academics. Highlighting the luncheon will be a conversation between Houston educators Marcia Brennan and John Lienhard, discussing how the arts can benefit the learning process.

Brennan is an art historian at Rice University. Lienhard, professor emeritus of mechanical engineering and history at the University of Houston, is the author of the radio program Engines of Our Ingenuity. Valerie Cassel Oliver, senior curator for the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, will moderate the conversation.

The luncheon benefits the community outreach programs of the Community Artists' Collective. KPRC-TV reporter Courtney Gilmore will emcee.
