Community Artists' Collective art opening reception: "Hearts, Hands and Heritage: Art, Enterprise & Preservation"

eventdetail

"Hearts, Hands and Heritage: Art, Enterprise & Preservation" is a joint exhibition between Rice University's Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning and The Collective. The exhibition, curated by Rice University Ph.D. student Aundrea Matthews, illustrates local quilters' broad range of artistic techniques and inspirations and examines the connection between the arts, business and historical preservation.

The exhibit coincides with the International Quilt Festival (Oct. 30-Nov. 2) at the George R. Brown Convention Center. An opening reception with artist talks and video presentation will be held Oct. 29 at The Collective from 7-10 p.m. The reception also highlights the 27-year history of The Collective and announces its participation in CERCL's Archive at the Woodson Research Center at Rice University's Fondren Library.

On view from Oct. 23 though Dec. 5.
