Canstruction Houston is a unique competition and food drive where local architects, engineers and construction firms and students build creative and ingenious cansculptures with canned food and other non-perishable food items. After a week-long exhibition, the food is donated to the Houston Food Bank to benefit the less fortunate.
2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Canstruction Houston and the sixth year the event has been held at CityCentre. This year will include 20 professional teams and 11 high school teams with mentor partners. In 2015, Canstruction Houston generated nearly 120,000 pounds of food, earning the No. 2 spot in the nation and enabling the Houston Food Bank to provide more than 140,000 meals as a result.
