The City of Houston kicks-off the first civic event for Houstonians Post-Harvey with Cigna Sunday Streets. With an estimated attendance of up to 20,000 people, Cigna Sunday Streets aligns with Go Healthy Houston. This initiative promotes programs, policies and actions designed to decrease or prevent obesity and chronic diseases by increasing access to healthy food and opportunities to be physically active.
Cigna Sunday Streets is designed to promote and improve the health of Houstonians while offering new economic opportunities for neighborhood commercial districts, in a unique way. One Sunday of the month in the spring (March, April, May) and fall (October, November, December), a neighborhood designated street will be open for pedestrian traffic. Family and friends may enjoy walking, running, dancing, skating, or cycling down the block while visiting the many businesses that are normally passed by while driving in a motorized vehicle.
The Fall Season will feature the following stops:
- November 5: Gulfton along Bellaire Boulevard between Hillcroft Street and Chimney Rock Road
- December 3: The Energy Corridor on Eldridge Parkway between Briar Forest Drive and Enclave Parkway
