Cinema Arts Festival: Frédéric Laffont's Ballad for a Cowboy

eventdetail

French filmmaker Frédéric Laffont presents Ballad for a Cowboy (Ballad our un Cow-boy) – a portrait of rodeo sensation Clint Cannon that was produced for French television in 2006. The documentary follows Cannon on his journey to become a rodeo star like his father Jay, who competed in rodeos for 20 years. Much of the action takes place at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. In 2009, Cannon set a record for earnings and won the world championship in Houston after two promising seasons were cut short by injuries. The French director will also screen a section of a film, Cowboy Solitude, that also stars Cannon and is a combination of documentary and fiction. It will be shown following Ballad of a Cowboy. Cannon will be on hand to answer questions.
