Celebrate ChildBuilders' 40 years of service to the Houston community. Judge Ed and Gwen Emmett and their family will be honored with the Amazing Grace Award, an award named in honor of Grace Mandola, the matriarch of the Mandola family, and presented to a multi-generational family that demonstrates strong family values and has proven to be an integral part of the Harris County community. Mitch Derrick, president of Derrick Equipment, will be presented the Muriel Folloder Phillips Volunteer of the Year Award for giving time, advice and resources to ChildBuilders. 

Marty Braniff will be the keynote speaker. Braniff is the founder of Houston Child Advocates, a nonprofit organization providing volunteers for abused and neglected children. In 2012 she published the novel Step Over Rio, a fictional exploration of a child sex trafficking ring based on actual children's cases, a very real and timely issue affecting hundreds of thousands of youths every year.
