Hickey Robertson
Monks from the Monastery of Christ in the Desert will be leading an audience in chanting the Divine Office on Feb. 20 at Rothko Chapel.
The centuries-old Christian monastic tradition will be sung in English and will include brief lessons on how to chant and read notations for the traditional Gregorian chants.
The Roman Catholic Monastery of Christ in the Desert was founded in 1964 and has grown to include nearly 40 monks from all over the world, all pursuing the 1,500-year-old Benedictine way of life.
