A celebration of exciting Gulf Coast and Caribbean music and dance, with a screening of the film Carnaval Dominicano.
"Carnival Connection" explores the customs and historic relationships between carnival traditions in the Caribbean, Latin America and the Gulf Coast. An exciting performance of Dominican folkloric dance and Brazilian samba music will follow a screening of Colores del Carnaval Dominicano by Rubén Durán and Donna Pinnick, who have documented carnival traditions in the Dominican Republic for the past three years.
