This concert presents the music of Rice University professor and Musiqa founder Karim Al-Zand and features an eclectic mix of solo, chamber, choral and orchestral works. Al-Zand's music is eclectic often drawing inspiration from other art forms including 19th century graphic art, fables of the world, folksong and jazz.

Capriccios (2002–2009) for solo violin

Swimmy (2010) based on the children's book by Leo Lionni for narrator, piano, clarinet, violin, cello

A Measure in Trance (2000) for choir

Variations (2002)  for viola and piano

The Spinning Ballerina (2008/2010) for chamber orchestra, after an illustration by J. J. Grandville
