The 7th Annual Power of Literacy Luncheon will be hosted by the Ladies for Literacy Guild of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and chaired by Gina Saour and Carolyn Mohenzadehs.
Jeannie Gaffigan, actress, producer, writer, philanthropist, mother of five, and all-around comedic force, will serve as the featured speaker. Gaffigan, the wife and writing and producing partner of Jim Gaffigan, was the story editor of New York Times bestseller Dad is Fat and Food: A Love Story, and author of New York Times Bestseller When Live Gives You Pears, a memoir chronicling her diagnosis, surgery, and recovery from a pear-sized brain tumor.
Proceeds from the event advance former First Lady Barbara Bush’s literacy legacy and support childhood literacy programs across our city.
