Houston Arboretum class: Build a Nest Box for the Eastern Screech Owl

Houston Arboretum

Birds of all kinds need protection from predators and bad weather and a safe place to raise their young. How can you improve the urban habitat for Houston's most valuable owl, the Eastern Screen Owl?

First, come learn about the habits of this nocturnal hunter of the city's forests. Then, build a nesting box from used lumber diverted from the local landfill by the City of Housto's ReUse Warehouse. This make-and-take workshop is family friendly. One child age 10 and up welcome with each paid adult.
