Bury Us Upside Down is an exhibition of paintings by John Forse focusing on gender and masculinity. Our cultural heritage includes gender ideals transmitted through stories and tales which, in turn, influence how we evaluate individuals, including ourselves. The work in this exhibition is the artist's contribution to the discussion of how traditional societal ideals function today - most notably: identity, action, and power in regards to masculinity. In order to better understand how these are transmitted, Bury Us Upside Down focuses on historical and possible future military narratives.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through April 30.
