A5: Annual Affordable Australian Aboriginal Art Show is an exhibition in conjunction with ArtHouston of paintings and fine art prints, priced from $225 to $2,250, by leading and emerging indigenous.
The collection features colorful Warlpiri paintings from Yuendumu and a variety of paintings from other Aboriginal communities. Artists include Josiah Omeenyo, Mary Napangardi Butcher and Nellie Nangala Wayne.
The opening reception is during NAIDOC Week (July 6-13), the Australia-wide celebration of indigenous cultures. NAIDOC, which originally stood for the National Aborigines and Islanders Day of Observance Committee, was founded in the 1960s.
