Book Reading: An Evening with Lisa See

Lisa See brings her newest novel, Dreams of Joy, to life in this lecture sponsored by the Asia Society Texas Center. Her narrative continues the story of sisters Pearl and May from Shanghai Girls. In See's latest novel, Pearl embarks on a quest in search of her strong-willed daughter, Joy, who fled Los Angeles for China in 1957 to find her father and throw herself into the Communist cause. The author explores themes of romance, motherhood and patriotism.

A book sale and signing will follow the lecture at the Kyle Morrow Room in Rice University's Fondren Library.
