BLUEorange will present Reductive featuring the new work of San Antonio artist Ben Mata.
Mata’s aluminum panels are simplistic in nature but invite the viewer in to discover subtle textures and and other intricacies The quite illuminate paintings relate to each other through Mata’s effective use of color, line and space. Mata works on aluminum panels using artist oils and power tools to manipulate the surface. The luminous metallic surface allows him to create a variety of textures and depths. Mata claims that this allows for a process of discovery; he is led by intuitive responses to the surface which guide him in the execution of the work.
The exhibit is open until December 18.
