The suspense is punctuated by acutely funny jabs throughout, elevating this mistaken identity, innocent-man-on-the-run tale to a level of total magic. It also features one of the best of the director’s trademark cameos.
The film achieves a rare level of entertainment that is both wickedly funny and to this day has viewers clutching seats. North By Northwest is more than just a thriller, it is a national treasure.
