Big Range Dance Festival: Program B

eventdetail

The Big Range Dance Festival features modern and postmodern dance exploring diverse ideas and the theatrical arts. Choreographers are encouraged to experiment with movement invention as they create a personal dance language. This is the eighth year of the festival, which begins June 5 and ends June 19.

The second week of the festival brings five dances choreographed by Alison Bory, jhon r. stronks and Kristen Frankiewicz. Highlights include stronks' The Truth About Dragons... Falso Pudor and Frankiewicz's Thre3fold.

In The Truth About Dragons stronks brings to life a fable exploring the social and political polarities of feminist and masculist ideas. It is set to the music of CocoRosie, Mos Def and Crag Armstrong.

Frankiewicz examines the individuality of each person and their chemistry with one another in Thre3Fold. The piece explores being fully present and savoring moments of life. The dance is set to the music of Overseer and Passion Pit.
