Contours, A Vision of Houston is a solo exhibition by Houston-based photographer and emerging artist Andy Hemingway inside The City Hall Rotunda. Hemingway's Contours, A Vision of Houston is a comprehensive photographic study of all of Houston's major roadways and interchanges expressed in dramatic imagery that captures the massive scale and flowing lines of the structures that help keep the city moving and that symbolize the spirit of ever increasing progress.
Hemingway grew up in Turkey and traveled extensively as a child due to the work of his anthropologist father. He was originally despondent upon settling in Houston because he found it lacking in any natural aesthetic beauty or obvious ties to ancient history. About the time he fell in love with the city is when he discovered — among other highlights — the monumental highways and interchanges, and was immediately compelled to explore and honor those symbols of movement and progress.
On view through July 11.
