eventdetail

Bayou City Performing Arts, Houston's premier chorus which promotes organizations that, through music, theatre and other forms of artistic expression, advance, tolerance, social justice and inclusiveness, will present Pride & Joy, featuring the Gay Men's Chorus of Houston and Bayou City Women's Chorus. The themes of pride and joy are echoed throughout the concert with several acclamations of Christ’s birth alongside the whimsical and exciting child-like journey of receiving that one gift that will spark true happiness in “Counting Down To Christmas.”

Joy and wonder are also expressed musically as the menorah burns brightly while thoughts of Sugar Plum Fairies bring a chuckle. Pride & Joy will also include unique arrangements of well-known Christmas carols such as "Silent Night," "Mary Did You Know," and "The Holly and the Ivy." Some carols reach back in history featuring Hildegard von Bingen and G. F. Handel and are juxtaposed with comical parodies of today and hopeful tunes for the future.
