Axiom Quartet presents The Sound of Hitchcock

eventdetail

Composer Bernard Herrmann is best known for his collaborations with film director Alfred Hitchcock. In addition to writing music for movies, Herrmann also composed pieces for the concert hall.

Rice University professor, clarinetist Richie Hawley, will be joining Axiom Quartet to perform Souvenir de Voyages, a dreamy romantic piece that combines moments of melancholy with moments of hopefulness. Herrmann’s string quartet, Echoes, is a deeply personal work, nostalgic of earlier times in his life and career. This program will also include a suite of music used in Hitchcock’s films, for clarinet and string quartet.
