At Asia Society Texas Center's sixth annual Festival of Eid, guests can celebrate and learn through food, performances, artist demonstrations, activities, and games.
Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is an occasion of peace, joy, and festivity. People visit friends and family, give gifts, and eat sweets food. On the festival lawn, guests can visit food stalls before heading indoors to play games and enjoy ticketed dance performances.
They can also receive a henna design, learn about Islamic arts and traditions from community partners, shop at the indoor bazaar of local artists and small business owners, see an ebru demonstration, try their hand at calligraphy, and create their own arts and crafts mementoes. In addition, they can enjoy free admission to Xu Bing: "Word Alchemy."
