In May 2014, the world's largest democracy elected Narendra Modi as the 15th Prime Minister of India. The election of Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party signaled change and incited hopes for a revived economy. Since his election, Modi's administration has focused heavily on domestic economic reform and increased foreign investment — on India's terms.

Anish Goel, senior fellow for South Asian Affairs at the New America Foundation, will discuss Modi's pragmatism as he seeks to position India as a global power.
