Diwali is one of India’s major holidays, celebrated every year in late October or early November. It is a time of renewal and new beginnings, and families celebrate by cleaning their homes, wearing new clothes, and eating their favorite meals. The festival’s name comes from the clay lamps that are lit outside of homes to symbolize the victory of good over evil.

Asia Society Texas Center will celebrate the Festival of Lights with art-making and games. Admission to the new exhibition, "Wondrous Worlds: Art & Islam Through Time & Place," will also be free and open to the public. Asia Society members receive early access from 12-1 pm, with general public admission starting at 1 pm.
