Dance company Kun Yang-Lin/Dancers makes its first Houston appearance at Asia Society Texas this fall with KyLin's Garden 麒麟的花園: A Space For Tending, Sharing & Imagination. This production showcases signature repertoire by Kun-Yang Lin from throughout the company's rich history, with new choreography created by senior dance artists Weiwei Ma and Evalina Carbonell.
KyLin’s Garden — the company's original name — references the initials of founder and artistic director Kun-Yang Lin, as well as the kylin (qilin), an Asian mythological creature that combines elements of five animals into one body, evoking both the different artistic voices that come together to form an ensemble and a community of diverse influences that flourishes as a whole.
