Asia Society Texas and Samskriti present the world premiere of Transcending Borders: The Ramayana Project, a unique cross-cultural production that tells the classic epic of the Ramayana through cultures in South and Southeast Asia that celebrate the epic poem and its themes.
Conceived and choreographed by Rathna Kumar, the production features performances by Anjali Dance Company, Gamelan of the New Moon, Naga Srinidhi Kuruvada on percussion and Abhishek Balakrishnan on violin, Mey Lee’s Indonesian Dance Ensemble, and SaLaRu Sri Lankan Dance Academy.
The production will bring to life the legendary story of Prince Rama — suffused with love, war, and adventure — in a new and original style.
