Beginning Jan. 6, renowned Houston sculptor Ben Woitena, who is known for his small and large scale works with wood, steel and stone, will celebrate the opening of his new exhibit The Lyricism of Ben Woitena. The work of Woitena is filled with his life experiences made richer with subconscious images. His is a personal narrative reflecting a series of relationships with imagery in the stone and a form emerges. Woitena cuts and sands the wood and the inherent grain becomes a silent sound. Steel is twisted, cut, welded to reflect the heroism of nature and the sound of a crescendo fading into silence.
On view through June 12, 2015.
