For hundreds of years, Australia's indigenous people have hand carved objects representing ancestral totemic birds, animals and spirit figures, and decorated them with tribal patterns. On view are 21 carvings, from throughout the northern coast's Arnhem Land and the Tiwi Islands, that range from simple "poker-burned" pieces to elaborately-painted sculptures.
Totems: Aboriginal carvings from Australia's Northern Territory is on display from Nov. 10 through Dec. 15.
