Wood You Believe It is an exhibition featuring works in wood by member artist Paula Haymond, whose creative vision takes form in the trees she cuts down, turns on the lathe, hand carves, delicately burns, textures, pierces with lace patterns and airbrushes with acrylics. She creates works which are rich with stories, imagination and complex imagery. Her large vases often suggest other materials are being used such as metal and ceramics, while her small intimate carvings are suggestive of ancient ocean forms. Haymond seeks to engage the viewer with her pieces by pulling them closer to each piece to investigate the images and movements across each form.
The artist will be on hand to visit with guests during the exhibition opening reception. She will talk about her work at 6:30 p.m.
