Artist Bud Clayton's latest body of work was chosen by curator and gallery owner Max Harrison to be shown in a solo exhibition at Gallery M Squared. His work deals with time passing, the distress and beauty he believes it renders. On Time consists of 30 new paintings on hand built substrates. There is noticeable visual weight that the pieces lend by standing approximately 4 inches from the wall, boldly differing from the streamlined aesthetic of many contemporary painters working today. The compositions begin immediately at the edges, naked to the surrounding space, exploding and crackling into a barrage of shattered and distressed fields of vibrant color.
On view through Feb. 24.
