Art opening reception: Surface of the Mind by Andreas Nottebohm

eventdetail
New Gallery

Artist Andreas Nottebohm, internationally acclaimed for his luminous works on metal, has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world for nearly 50 years. With eight works in NASA's permanent collection, Nottebohm was recently honored with a retrospective, titled Raw Metal, at the University Of Arizona Museum Of Art and a concurrent exhibition of his earlier works, titled NASA Days, shown with Robert McCall. This will be Nottebohm's sixth one-man show at New Gallery.

Nottebohm's work is ever-evolving; creating infinite gossamer veils of shifting dimensionality. These aluminum surfaces challenge the viewer to determine what is real and what is illusion and, if indeed, it is the illusion that is the true reality.

Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of Nottebohm artworks during this exhibition will benefit City Art Works, a visual art education nonprofit that supports art education programs in low-income schools throughout Houston.
