Unwoven Light, a new installation by American artist Soo Sunny Park for Rice University Art Gallery, will be a suspended, undulating structure made from shaped sections of chain link fencing. Within the chain link cells thousands of iridescent acrylic Plexiglas shapes will reflect and refract both natural and artificial light.
Changing colors from yellow to magenta to deep purple when viewed from different angles, the effect will be similar to the shifting hues and sheen of butterfly wings or peacock feathers.
The opening reception includes remarks by Soo Sunny Park at 6 p.m.
On view through April 30.
