Contemporary artist Ray Phillips will introduce his new works at Laura Rathe Fine Art. Reversion, which features the iconography of pop culture ranging from James Bond to Popeye, is the artist's first new collection since his return home to the Bayou City from Galveston and his first solo show since 2009. 

Phillips utilizes a combination of typography, abstract composition, collage and mixed media on large canvasses and wood panels. Reversion calls to mind the imagery the artist embraced in his youth, generating bold works that run the gamut from "hero worship" to whimsical adoration.

Reversion will remain on view though April 20.
