Art opening reception: Reflections on Buffalo Bayou by Cressandra Thibodeaux

eventdetail

Award winning filmmaker Cressandra Thibodeaux's new photography series, Reflections on Buffalo Bayou, is a collection of photographic images, mostly of man-made items reflected within the bayou — a combination of nature and man living together and at times not so harmoniously.

Cressandra Thibodeaux has worked with images of water on her series Oil On Water, which were abstract images on the Gulf Coast Oil Spill. That show was chosen to be in a satellite art show at Art Basel in Switzerland in June 2010.

Thibodeaux lives and creates her art in Houston and has been an artist for more than 20 years. She has an MFA from Columbia University's Film Program. She has shot several documentaries and was a photojournalist for 10 years. When she moved back to Houston in 2010, she learned of Buffalo Bayou Partnership and was impressed by the many improvements set up for the bayou. Since then, Thibodeaux has enjoyed discovering the Buffalo Bayou and all of its diversity.

On view through March 15.
