Every year, Ceramics Monthly, a major ceramics publication, selects up to 14 top emerging artists. 18 Hands Gallery is showcasing 10 of those selected for 2012, including Sunshine Cobb, Chandra DeBuse, Andrew Gilliatt, Kim Henderson, Christopher Melia, KyoungHwa Oh, Lindsay Oesterritter, Audrey Rosulek and Lilly Zuckerman.
They are all artists who have been working less than 10 years in the field yet have achieved a place at the leading edge of contemporary ceramic work. Like the universe of ceramic art, their work varies widely from thoughtful and innovative functional work to sculpture and site installation.
